My voice, my record (2018-2024)

[Voice Memo is an album of emotions and moments that passed through me from 2018 to 2024, recorded with my voice. I recorded the beginning and end of love, loneliness and longing, and songs that looked deeply into my own inner world over time. I want the lisTENer to follow the changing emotional lines from track to track.

I want people to listen to this album not just to hear music, but to follow my time and emotions as if they were flipping through a diary. It may be empathy for some and a new perspectIVE for others, but I just put my feelings into the album.

1. It's Okay (feat. ZICO)

A story about the hardest love we've ever gIVEn each other. I knew I should leave, but I stayed, and in the end, we made each other feel shabby. I thought he seemed so perfect, but we weren't right for each other, so I told him to leave, that you'll be okay, but inside I wasn't okay at all. This song is about the complicated feelings before a breakup.

I combined hip-hop sounding drums with instruments like piano and guitar to make it feel lIVEly and lIVE.

2. It reminds me

When the song you lisTENed to together plays, or the path you walked together feels unfamiliar, all you can think about is that moment. This song is about the moments that I thought would disappear with time, but now they haunt me and I wish they would leave my memory.

I borrowed grunge and garage rock sounds to express my inTENse emotions sonically.

3. 1+1

Hate is gone and only longing remains. I finally realize. I realize that even though we're over, you're still in my heart. You were the one who should have been by my side after all. Like a simple math equation, 1+1 always adds up to 2, and we should have been together.

The song is developed with familiar instruments to make the listener feel like a lIVE performance.

4. 환몽 (Interlude)

I didn't want this album to be just a love story. I wanted to include the emotions that bothered me the most besides love. I don't want to feel anything in my dreams, because I feel TOO many emotions in reality. This song is about my desire to be free as much as possible in my dreams. The nightmares I still have.

I used a dreamy and somewhat heavy drum and bass to express it in a heavy and cynical way.

5. Breakup AnnIVErsary (feat. SOLE)

Two years have passed since our breakup. Now I'm the one who commemorates the day we broke up. As time passes, the emotions seem to fade, but I still remember that time. The last featured part of the song sounds like his voice in my dreams. Still unable to accept the breakup, I still remember.

The lyrical acoustic guitar arpeggios and contrasting compressed drums create a modern and emotional track.

6. Echo

In this song, I don't speak directly about my inner pain. Rather, I wanted to express it with abstract lyrics and emotional sounds. Voices repeating inside of me, echoes of emotions that don't go away. The song is not about external noise, but about the emotions that resonate within me.

I borrowed the sound of rock's distortion and electronica's harsh waveforms for an unrefined and rough sound.

7. Like the First Time (feat. Skinny Brown)

The emotion of being attracted to someone for the first time is expressed through the theme of alcohol. Utilizing the KEYword 'like the first time', it captures the emotions, excitement, and mistakes of the first time. When you drink alcohol, you become more honest than usual, and the words you hesitate to say flow out without realizing it, just like the beginning of love. Unlike my introverted personality in real life, I wanted to express more bold emotions in this song.

I used uneffected guitars, real 2000s vocal sample chops, etc. to realize the feel of 2000s hip-hop R&B samples.

8. Promise Me

A story that every lover can relate to. “I'll love you forever.” It's a common phrase, but it sounds different when you mean it. The most precious promise a couple can make to each other. “If you fall, I'll pick you up.” ”I'll be there for you forever.” These are words that anyone in love has probably said at least once. It's a sweet, slightly shy, but heartfelt love song.

We kept the song as simple as possible to match the texture of the lyrics.

9. OST (feat. CHANMINA)

This song is special. It captures my love process as it is. I made this song while looking back at our story like a movie, from dating to promising to spend the rest of our lIVEs together. It's not an “original soundtrack,” but rather “our soundtrack.”

The straightforward melody and chord progression in the intro, the imperfections in the chorus, and the wistful, tempo-oriented composition gIVE the song a J-pop feel.

10. I don't wanna be your hero

I'm very grateful for the undeserved atTENtion and love, but sometimes I feel shameful when I look at myself in the mirror, unlike what I see on the screen. The version of me that people see is a part of me that I want to show, and sometimes it's what they want me to be. But in the end, I'm just me. The song captures my inner feeling that what I see on the screen is not everything, and that even I don't know the whole me.

The pop sound is Koreanized with a rock sound.

This album is a little special to me. It's pieces of my life, the feelings I had at the time, and the moments I want to remember. I hope people can relate to it, or it can be someone's story.
